I`ve noticed that many people who play the piano also play another instrument 2, like I play the flute 2 and most of my friends who play the piano play another instrument also.
I really wonder why this is, could it be that the piano isn`t challenging enough?

You tell me, Han, since you yourself play two instruments. I`ve focused on piano my whole life, although i once muddled with the clarinet for school band. But I think that Horowitz was right: "The piano is the easiest in the beginning, but the hardest to master in the end."

When I was younger, I was asked 2 join the school band, but turned the offer down. That was a BIG mistake,my friends all told me that the band was fun and that they were going on a trip 2 Spain, I was TOTALLY gutted because I love spain, so If any 1 else has an opportunity 2 join a band...DO IT!!!!

I totally agree with Horowitz. The piano isn`t an instrument you can take lightly.

hi there,

I play guitar, piano and the drums.... I play all 3 of these instruments because i feel like learning something different. I like to have the variety. So that if one of my friends play guitar I can play along on the drums or I can play the guitar along while they play the drums. Its really great to be able to know how to play at least 2 instruments. Most people i know play at least 2 instruments for the same reason as i. And i am sure that there are other people out there who play more than 1 instrument

I started with the violin and played that for a while, I think many people choose the piano because it doesn`t require as much as ear as other instruments. That was my reason at least. I just teach myself. Piano kicks butt, but don`t get me wrong violin is the most beautiful instrument out there in my opinion.

Sarah Doranson you are a freak!

Anyway, the piano is something I took up because it help a lot with music theory and is good for bringing all of your musical skills together and honing them all.

if you can play the piano you can handle an organ if you can work your feet right

if you play by ear(well) and can learn where to find a chord on an instrument you can play pretty much play anything

I`ve noticed that myself, when I was at school just about every musician in my school band played piano, whether they could or not.
My main instrument is the clarinet, but I`ve played piano for a few years. I don`t know why I started- I just liked the instrument.

the fact is,today too many people think th`re actually playing the piano.they read a few scores then "wow i`m a pianist now, isn`t that great!"the piano is the instrument that permits the greatest virtuosity(as well as the organ)so its mastery is far from simply"i`ve played the rach 3 i`m a master now!!" as long as you are not able to play fluidly without a score you are no pianist you`re either a twizel that needs the piano for school purpose( solfegios, theory)or an intepreter.so unless you are very naturaly gifted if you`re playing two instruments your only butching two things that ultimately needs a lifetime of work...consecration=victory

i just hope no one dares to compare the piano with the flute!?!?!?

ya... i think piano is probly the hardest to master....I started playin when i was between 3 and 4 years old (im 13 now) and at first, well i was all cocky and stuff but now that i actually started playing like bethoven ,brahms..etc i still dont consider myself like a...pianist...like tecnocally i am but...theres obviously still people way better and that are like professianol... soo...yaaa.. anyways...i play alto sax, tenor sax, piano, and organ. I still want to continue picking up new instruments as i get older...
