So an electric keyboard is the same (almost) as a regular piano?

To a good pianist, or someone that cares, there is a huge difference in the sound, touch, accuracy, range of expression, etc.

no. Your hands will have the strength of marshmellows when you come accross a real piano.

Most teachers won`t teach on an electronic keyboard (good ones anyway.) Some teachers don`t accept students who have learned to a certain level on an electronic keyboard. It`s hard to practice on an electronic keyboard. You`ll train your ears to hear sampled notes instead of the real piano sound.

What should I get to learn on then? I would be learning mainly on my own.
