hi all
I've been playing piano for almost a year but I still cant read sheet music propperly. I started out learning how to play and read music so far from websites & videos avalible on the net. I know the basic notes etc and how to read a few chords and I've got songs like twinkel, twinkel little star licked! lol. But when confronted with a propper song I cant read it at all I can play a few tunes ok (your song, virtual insanity, teach me and a few others)but thats only because I learnt them via video tutorials & I wouldnt know how to read the sheet music for them.
Can anyone tell me where to start? How did you learn to read music? any sites or books you can recommend? I really want to learn how to play the piano & I started off quiet well learning/practising for the first 5/6 months but I think without being able to read music I will not go any further
any help would be much appreciated!
Thanks, SJ

reading music isnt very hard to figure out and doesnt take that long so you should be fine... you could always take lessons with a teacher but this would obviously cost money... the following is website that 'teaches' you the basics of music and how to read it. i think it is very good.. check it out

I learned first using Bastien primer level, but I don't recommend it. After that I started again and learned it in Alfred's basic piano library level 1A. It has little things to help you remember it. And some great little songs to help you learn. Good Luck.

Oh, you can get them at pretty much any music store, and maybe a library but I don't know.
