all i can say is be carfull to pay attention to your fingerings. a cord can be easy and u make it hard by not using the right fingering.

I think it is also worth while learning the theory behind chords - take time to learn those key signatures! then learn the chords in the different inversions - so you can move to different chords without moving your hands round too much! It is boring stuff, but like everything, it only comes with practice. I find that playing hymns is really good practice, as many hymns are pure block chords.
