Hello all. I am an intermediate piano player. The problem is, I'm a self learner and I managed to mangle up my hands
. That is, I seem to have learned one too many complex pieces practicing with my hands together. Now, for the life of me, I can not play rhythm with one hand and improvise with the other. My hands are dependent upon each other in a manner very hard to explain. Basically, any rhythm change with one will affect the other. E.g., if I am playing some scale with the right and rhythm with the left, speeding up the scale will cause me to, at best, derail the rhythm, and at worst add another involuntary beat with my left whenever I play with my right. If anyone can offer links to practices for gaining the ability to play hands independently I would be most appreciative.
