Okay so im wanting to learn how to play the piano
so i need some advice on what kinda keyboard piano i should get?

It all depends on what you think is most important about the piano. If you're interested in all those effects and wanting your piano to sound like a different instrument, I suggest a Casio. If you want an authentic piano sound with little or no other effects, I suggest a Yamaha. That's what I have and it sounds really good. Also, another thing to consider is whether you would want a portable electric piano, a console electric piano(an electric piano that is very similar to a real piano)or a piano. Portables take up less room and are easy to travel with. Console pianos are very similar to regular pianos because they have all of the peddles attached to it. A regular piano is the most expensive and you have to keep it in tune daily,but, it is your best bet if you want that authentic sound. All of those can be good choices. You just have to be happy with them. I hope this helps! Good luck!

A minimum starting point in digital pianos that teachers will endorse would be the Yamaha Clavinova CLP320.

I got a Yamaha DGX-630 for Christmas, and I love it. I has more bells and whistles than I'll ever need, and I'd re-design it somewhat if I was to use something like it in a band, but...

The piano sound is awesome. The keys feel very much like a real piano. The other patches (electric pianos, organs) are great. I actually prefer playing it to my baby grand.

It's also far easier to move than the baby grand (but the baby grand is far easier to move than any upright I've moved )

Well, the baby grand takes up a lot of space that we really don't have, so it's in a back room. The Yammy is in the family room so my playing/practice is more a part of the family experience.

The Yammy doesn't need to be tuned. The various sounds are really nice (I always wanted a Rhodes and the "Suitcase EP" sound is amazingly close to a real Rhodes).

There are things about the grand (btw a mid 1920's Wheelock/Aeolian - no Steinway or Baldwin but a solid instrument). The sustain pedal is real - the Yammy has a real rapid decay on the sustain pedal. There is something to say about the power of slamming into a real grand piano. The feel of real ivory and wood is superior to plastic...

But overall the Yammy has such a good overall feel (not too different from modern piano's with plastic on the keys) that it just seems "easier" to play.

I love my baby grand! It's a Story and Clark. Anyway, in my experience with electric keyboards, I prefer Yamaha. The keys feel more real, and the expression pedal seems to work better.
