Hi! I've been playing piano for 10 years, slowly working through my grades. I've stopped at grade 6 as I'm very busy with school work and have also stopped lessons.I am still pushing myself to learn more and love a challenge. The problem is that I'm still not satisfied with the quality of my playing when it comes to quick and fiddly pieces. I get jittery fingers and don't feel as though I have enough control over what I'm playing. I tend to know what to play but my fingers don't do what I tell them! Can anyone advise me on how I can gain better control over my hands? thanks guys, any help would be much appreciated!

Have you tried Czerny and Hanon exercises before? These exercises laid good foundation for virtuosity and good fingering. You can try these exercises with slower movement and gradually increase your tempo - make sure you wrist is not relax and not bouncy when you play the exercises.

Sorry, I meant your wrist should be relaxing and not bouncy

Thanks for the advice! I have never heard of these exercises before but I will have a look around. I will see how it goes in terms of relaxing my wrist, I'd never even paid attention to it before.
I do have some exercises to do before practising but I've not really done them much before, probably because I get so impatient and just want to jump straight into the good stuff! But Maybe I need more discipline!
Thanks, Rosy
