Can anyone here play reflets dan l`eau by debussy? If so can you tell me how you practiced the big arpeggio sections. I just finished claire de lune but this is on a totally different scale.
p.s. you can find at sheetmusicarchive.net if you`re interested, it`s a good piece

i`ve practiced this piece for a while, and now i can play almost perfectly. yes, this is a difficult piece, indeed. but, it`s one of my favourite works by debussy. People are often overwhelmed by this piece when they first look at it, because the majority of notes are very crowded. 64th notes are not uncommon in this piece. The most crucial thing in playing this piece is that your wrists have to be really flexible. for big arpeggios, they are not actually as hard as they seem. Once you figure out the fingerings, it`ll be a piece of cake since all you have to do is to repeat them.

I looked at that piece in one of my classes at university last year. It looks HARD. I think I will wait a while before I attempt it.

if u just completed clair de lune, u probably need to gradually build up to reflets dan l`eau, it`s as u said on a whole different scale, i finished clair de lune about 4 months ago and i`ve been playin some other stuff like leibestraum and some other stuff at that level, but i don`t think i`m ready for rdl yet

even if it means making enemies:I CANNOT TOLERATE DEBUSSY,some idolize him,i despise him,i like precise, structurated very sqare music AND WITH A DIRECTION PLEASE!i liked few notes of clair de lune like every one but that`s all....degree of concision zit, nada the only credit i give him is not being redundant because coda is my worst enemy.impressionism does not impress me at all!!as for my impressions they just tells me to press stop!!sorry debussy lovers i pity you very much i`ve never heard such boring music;at least he tried to innovate though!still it`s better than berg or webern`s delusions.........sorry guys i`m like so mean today!!!!!!!!!

I`m sort of in the middle, I think that you shouldn`t play too much debussy, as it doesn`t really improve you much as a player. On the other hand, music isn`t supposed to be some sort of mechanical science, bounded by rules. Debussy isn`t the best, but he`s far from intolerable.
