I`m a guitar player who has just started playing keys. I know with guitar, a good way to progress is to learn as many riffs or phrases (even short progressions) and that way you develope a volcabulary of building block that you can use to improvise or compose with. I assume piano is no different.
One thing I do is download MIDI files, open them in Cakewalk and use the piano roll screen to visually see the keys that are pressed (I can`t read very quickly, so this way is easy).
Does anyone know of some lessons that teach pop, rock, blues, and jazz riffs?
Thanks,
DCO
