Start by getting a few piano books for beginners then proceed to get a keyboard for beginners. After that, you can print some music of your choice at this site, freesheetmusicguide.com or other sites found at Yahoo!

my big advice-Get a tutor.
If you get one theres no problems and no chance of you learning wrong things and habits. What do you mean by white keys and black keys? do you mean the actual piano keys, or do you mean like the notes on the book.
Answer this and ill help ya and remember just get a tutor and you`ll have no worries... except exams.

Actually, it`s not very difficult.
It is repetitive. C C# D D# E F G G# A A# B C The sharps are also known as the flats of the next key. eg: C# is Db
The pattern goes on for the entire keyboard.

I touched one for the first time last month, as my parents would not let me play any instrument.
I find the instrument pretty straightforward as you just have to put a finger on a key to find the note u want.
However, my left hand fingers are kinda stuck and I find that really fustrating, so sometimes, i`m tempted to cheat and not alternate their move but just slide my hand left and right.
The "fa" clef on sheet music is also giving me headaches. I`m still wondering how pianists can actually read the two "portées" (sorry, dunno the terms in english) at the same time...

Hey, um, vert jaune rouge, the English term for "portées" is "reaches", but I don`t know what you are talking about. We don`t really call anything "reaches", unless in my seven years of once-a-week lessons at my house I`ve completely missed something. I don`t know. by the way, why are you "green yellow red"? I don`t really get that part.

Vert Jaune Rouge is my pseudo. It doesn`t really have to make sense to everyone does it?
I learned the tiny bit of music I know in Paris and I`m still learning in French. "Portées" are made of 5 lines and 4 spaces... those things on which you write music. Obviously, u will find many ways of translating that word that also means reaches but in another context. I just dunno the music terminology.
Anyway, I was saying that it was hard for me to read at the same time the sol and fa clefs and to play...

I think you guys need someone to clear it up. I`m from Quebec so i speak english and french. The "portée" means the "staff". So the "cle de fa" is the F staff, so staff often used for the right hand of a pianist and the cle de sol is the G staff, ofetn used for the right hand. iN THE f staff, you have C (do) in the second space (deuxieme interligne). You have an other C, one octrave higher, one line over the F staff. In the G staff, you have the same C (the middle C) one line under the staff. A scale contains 8 notes like the name of this wonderful site. So count on your fingers and you got another C on the third space of the G staff. French cousin, just ask if you want me to explain you the whole thing in french.
A plus.

I guess I should learn all this again in English, but I really can`t be asked now. Also u got great websites from Quebec like "www.theoriedelamusique.com"...I`ll make an effort tho for the obvious terms
