Hey...i`vebeen playing the guitar for about 1yr+ & i intend to learn how to play the piano. But i am clueless about everything about it & i need some help here. Thanx

I just intend to learn how to play some of my fav songs like Evanescence & stuff (sheet music from http://w3m.fateback.com/). Nothing too serious like classical stuff.

Anyways, i`m thinking of getting a keyboard. Just a small to practice. But is it sufficient? I`m talking about the Casio keyboards with 49keys.

& also, what is a mini keyboard?

Have u thought about getting an electone? If u`re financially ok. U`ll love playing it more than the boring keyboard...since it`s all fun and enjoyment u want.

Hmmm...There`s been a mass exodus from the guitar to the piano at my school. Like you, most of these people have simple goals at first. Excellent! You`ll be better off keeping it simple because some of those pianists who learn a lot of technique just can`t stop bragging and showing off. When you learn piano, please do not do that.
Piano is a wonderful instrument to learn. I suggest finding a piano/keyboard teacher even though you want to keep it simple, just so you can learn the technique of playing either keyboard or piano. By the way, learning one is not learning the other as well, the weight of keyboard keys is significantly lighter than piano keys. That is because there is no dynamic variation (volume difference when you play hard or soft) on the keyboard so there is no need for weight. So if you learn to play the keyboard first, you`re in for a shock when you play heavy piano keys for the first few times. Good luck!

if you`re ok with the guitar, u basically have a good base to start with on piano, if you have humble expectations at first like playing some pop or contemporary songs, you`ll do good b/c it`s basically just chords, but as for the actuall instrument, if u can afford a digital, that would be great, but there`s nothin like a good sounding piano

Wuz^. Yo i`m 12yrs old and i`ve been playing for 1 yr. If your good at the guitar you`ll be ok at the piano. Your probably thinking what does this little 12yr old know. I`ve played for churches and school concerts, so i know quite a bit. First see if you can find a book to teach yourself just the basics. You should all ready have some experience with staffs since you play the guitar. No teacher likes to teach someone completely brain dead. When you think you know the basics. Try and get a teacher to help get through the rest. Then you`ll be fine. Thats all i`ve got to say. Peace Out.
