Hi Steve from Australia,
I have played Rach 3 (im 17) and i have to tell you one thing.... NOBOY PLAYS THE RACH 3!!!! its to difficult for the average human being, honest. If I were you, i would stop right now and attempt something less homosexual, like the Clown by Kabalevsky. that piece is reachable for most people, but still requires a fully developed and functional thumb and first finger (the other three are not needed.) also, its amazing harmonic shifts from a minor to A major with literally no preparation are shocking and brilliant. the emotional impact of this piece on any mentally challenged listener is abseloutely remarkable... it is a great piece if you want to show off pianistic pyrotechnics. In my opinion, its melodic content is far superior to that of Rach. 3, which nobody plays. if you would like to continue this discussion, GO FORNICATE A HORSE!!!
