how long you are goin to practise is determined on how much you want to get better... you should at least be playing 30 mins..... I practise at least like 1hour and 30mins........ and if i were you id probly practise like an hour a day........ you should probly work on scales....(it helps you be able to "move" along on the piano) and you should most definitly be working on reading music... because you said you wernt good at that.....
good luck

Well, scales and sight reading are really important things to learn and practice, you should try an easy piece from your book, and try sight reading it Slowly at first then you will pick it up, you should always practice sight reading atleast 15 min a day.

spend like 10-15 minutes on drilling exercises and/or scales, 10-15 minutes on reading music (to help get better at sight reading) and 20-30 minutes on real songs you can play. That is, if you`re good enough to have real songs (like fur elise or minuet in G, those are like the bare minimum). If not just work out of the book until you are good enough. That way it only takes about 40-60 minutes out of your day. Now me, I have high hopes so I spend about 90 minutes a day, but I`m gettin better. I`m only 13 so If I keep it up I might be playing Suggestion Diabolique or the Ocean Etude soon.
Hope that system works for you!

hey thanks everybody...i`ll take the suggestions.

There is one thing in the last post that
bothered me though, what exactly did you mean
by "real songs" are you saying the songs in
the lesson book aren`t real?? cause if you are
that`s a pretty stupid statement, there are some
awesome songs...

sorry I`m just trying to clarify what you meant??

By "real songs" I think he meant pieces that u would like to play I guess... not any sight reading or finger exercises, just pieces that you want in your repitore.
