its interesting that no one has mentioned their stretch between other fingers. That`s really the important thing when talking about stretch, and its the only stretch that can be increased through practice. Through practice i`ve worked my stretch between 2 and 3 up to a 6th, 3/4 and 4/5 are both 5ths.
Most people can stretch at least a ninth, and when it comes to play any bigger intervals, its acceptable to play the two notes in quick succession.
The way to practice stretch is to hold your hand perpendicular to the keyboard, so that your right hand palm is facing to the left. Then play the 5th finger with your hand in that manner. Reach your 4th finger as far to the left as comfortably possible. Then slowly rotate your hand into normal piano playing position holding the notes. Repeat for all combinations except for thumb since stretches involving the thumb can`t really be improved. You should be able to imporove your stretch between each finger by two notes.

I`m 14, but I can reach a 11 with my right hand, and 10-11 with my left.
I find that using the Hannon practice books dramatically increases your reach after a very short time. I was only able to reach a 9 in each hand before I started using them. Incidentally I am in grade 9 piano, working away on my stupid grade 2 harmony, which is proving incredibly annoying.
