I`ve been playing the piano for 1 1/4 years but I don`t understand why there is double flats and sharps. I just want know what they mean and why they are put there.

instead of going 1 key up or down (like a sharp would turn a C into a D-flat or a C-sharp) you go 2 keys up or down.
For example: F double sharp is really G, and C double flat is really just b flat.
