Hi there! I`m a 16 year old who started piano on my own a year ago or so. I haven`t been playing much until I recently tried out the 1st Movement for Moonlight Sonata. I completed it within two days. Right now, I`m deciding on which piece to start next. Any suggestions guys? (I`ll appreciate if you could name me something around my standard that I can play. )
Thanks!

hmmm, if that`s the case I would think that yr pretty advanced for a beginner.
Have u tried the whole of Moonlight? Do u think u can complete the work, if so, it`s always better to learn the whole work, rather than just playing one movement of it.
But the 3rd movement will be time consuming.
What type of music do u like then? Agressive, sweet, soulful and reflective?

i think maybe if you but the suzuki books, you`de get waht u need. get a higher level though, maybe 5 or 6 ( or 7). the whole book is made up of popular pieces for ur instrument. i use them both for piano and cello i like em. other than that i think maybe fur elise , by beethoven, would be a good piece to play.

Played any Bach?
How about some Chopin Etudes to develop technique?

Oh, thanks for the advise. Right know, I`m still relatively new to the piano so I`m still searching within myself to find music i really like. No, I haven`t really tried the whole of Beethoven`s Sonata Opus 27 Moonlight (if that`s what they call it.. dont remember the exact title thought!)
Recently, I tried to play Rimsky`s Flight of the Bumble-bee from Tsar Sultan but failed horribly...(hehe). Yup, I don`t have a piano teacher so I guess I`ll have to put the Bumble-bee on hold for the time being.
Now I`m trying Fur Elise by Beethovan, mim, and that`s the piece with the difficulty level 2 on music-scores.com! As for Harvey`s reply, could you name some exact pieces that I could play or develope my technique with, preferably something that`s avaliable online. I certainly appreciated your advises (if there`s a plural for it!) so very much! Please be welcome to add on more to my topic, thank you!

For Bach, maybe some Inventions. Exact pieces? (Grr...you made me get my book out) Take a look at No. 12 and 13. Maybe some Preludes and Fugues. No. 4 (forgot which book) in C-sharp minor is a good one. Oh, and look at the "Explication unterschiedlicher Zeichen, so gewiße Maniern artig zu spielen, andeuten" before you play any Bach.
Chopin Etudes: Most of them are useful. Pick one you like.

The Prelude and Fugue was from Book I. All music I mentioned are available at http://www.sheetmusicarchive.net. You can search for the Explication somewhere on the net.

Ahh... the see. Hmmm.. the Bach explication thing seems rather err, foreign, I`ll be trying Handel`s Sarabande & Variations afterwhich I`ll go for Chopin`s Revolutionary Etude (hopefully, I can play the Etude). Before I start with these pieces, any advise for these 2 pieces (Handel`s Sarabande & Chopin`s Revolutionary Etude)? I sure hope I`m not taking on an Etude too advanced for me! Thanks!
