wasn`t the point of this thread NOT to talk about sheet music??Oh well....if you want to find it go to the forum that talks about it or type it up in a search engine....eventually you`ll find what you`re looking for

Has anyone tried or owns a Steinway piano?
I tried one and I`m in love, the sound is just so rich and vibrant... too bad I can`t afford it, not until I`m out of university anyways, but my Samick will do well until then

It`s neat to see the keys moving by themselves, quite eerie actually. I love some grands, but I played this one grand for a solo once, and I didn`t like it at all. it was a Yamaha 7" and it felt weird, very wooden and no depth.

Different pianos sound diferent. My friends piano sounds richer and more *chubby*, if you will, than mine.

chubby, mmm.. chicken.. sorry, just being silly
true, I like a full sound on a piano, has to be open and round for me. But I go a lot by feel too, some pianos I just like the feel to it, just the right amount of "bounce" to keys and how responsive to my touch is my judge

chubby chicken, LOL!!! Yeah, the keys on my friends piano are more, lively, or require a little more force, or something.

Yeah...my piano requires more force on the keys and the damper pedal. At my last recital, I had to play on this piano that sounded really keyboardish and the keys and pedals were really sensitive. And the music stand on it was set really far back. Really weird. I`d never messed up or been thrown off so badly in my entire life! Chubby chicken??? ok...maybe i shouldn`t ask lol

Don`t mind me! I`m just say weird phrases and that one popped up, sorry, my mind`s a muffin.
I tried recording a solo with my piano using a half decent microphone and a tape deck, but the sound was awful, it was really "tinny" sounding and the bass and dampers seem to not sound! Anyone got an idea of how to get a good recording for piano? (my teacher said it was awfully hard to because of the nuances of a piano) I already had the top of my upright open and the mic placed right above it and in different places.
Overall, my piano has a rich sound and the pedals are just right and the touch is really bouncy minus the dead spot keys. Too bad that the tape did no justice.

Ok, not starting any arguments here, but I was more than a little bored with sheet music talks and wanted a little piano talk. That`s not too hard to handle, is it?
