Im sorry but i really believe that to attempt the monnlight 3rd, you really need a lot of experience under your belt, its really not a piece for beginners. I have been playing 9 years and ive only just started to play the 3rd. It is a very daunting piece but as people have said, break it down and pratice slowly and it can be unrevaled.

Nothing makes you look more ignorant than an uninformed insult. Here`s the thing, J: Beethoven wrote this sonata, and like most sonatas, it has three movements. In your head, you identify "Moonlight Sonata" with the first movement of the piece. This movement is not too difficult, which is why novices like yourself learn this piece early on. However, the third movement is not for novices. Waiting 9 years to learn the third movement is admirable, as opposed to attempting it too early on and butchering the piece every time it`s "played". It takes a great amount of maturity for a pianist to restrain themselves from attempting pieces that are not within their technical/musical reach. So how about you judge not, lest you be judged and back off, yeah?

At 13 you find the winterwind etude a little Challenging!!! ,sorry a little challenging, is that it!!! My piano teacher is very good and is in her late 40`s and wouldnt attempt this insane piece of music. OK if you are this amazing player as you make out, see if you can play it as well as murray perahia on his fairly recent chopin etudes disc. This piece was said to be a furiuosly difficult work to play, since you have to play 8 pages of madness, it is not meant for a young person without a capable technique to play, it could destroy you.... hopefully it will. Ha ha ha ha.

I dont do it like that, I just learn it a tad slower than you are supposed to then quickly get it up to speed, I never practice any difficult piece slowly, I find it a waste of boring time, better to just jump straight in at the deep end almost.

I also just began learning the third movement, and after viewing the structure of the song, it truly isn`t that difficult as i first believe. I agree with whomever said this, that neither is it easy, nor difficult.

Regarding the comments about starting this piece for 9 years (which is actually about the length of time I`ve played the piano for)- it is possible to get all the notes of the 1st and 2nd movements waaaaaaaaaay before then, but have any of you considered that you need a certain level of artistic maturity to play them effectively? (Especially the second movement, that is SO easy to misinterpret).

How long have you been playing for? I dont quite believe you can play it without mistakes, not at full speed, sorry. You must not go to school or anything, you must practice 12 hours a day or something. You should go on TV and show the world how good you are, because there are not that many people at your age surely in the world who can pull it off at 13. Apart from some russian probably.
