I`m 14, and have only injured myself once. This was during a 13-page song by Bach, which I just finished by the way. Let`s just say one finger went one way, another the other.

Hey, heres a new one. While playing piano, I hurt my back! How? Guess my technique wasn`t so hot: I was playing upside down. Kinda dumb, I know, but the audience loves it.

I have played for a while now like three years and I usually practice for about an hour each day, no problems at all. I used to hurt all the time but then I learned that just taking a second and relaxing brfore you play really helps. I don`t even know what a good technique is I taught myself how to play, oh yeah and throw your whole body into playing. Like if you need to stretch to reach a really high pitced ke don`t stretch your arm use your back and lean to the key, if you can it reallt helps.

Hmm, I`ve heard of several cases of carpal tunnel and such with playing... I am 15, (with the smallest hands of any pianist my age that I`ve seen.. haha) and ironically I`ve never had a piano-related injury. I have minorly sprained my right ring finger, and still played piano (which I`ll admit was painful) but other than that, nothing. My teachers of the course of years I`ve been playing, have always had good remarks about my techniques, and I suppose it was just drilled in my head from a young age. (I used to play with quarters on top of my hands, trying to keep them up and level!)

Of course, having played octaves in pieces from quite a young age... and doing extensive stretching exercises for my fingers, I can just about reach a 10th interval, and octaves actually come with ease. Now, after doing so for so long, if you look close enough, it`s noticeable that I have `crooked` fingers from playing... haha.

And I read a comment about someone playing too fast it starts to hurt... haha, yes, I know how that goes... but it takes a long while of playing a fast piece for my hands to start hurting. I tend to love flashy fast-paced pieces.
