How did you learn notes? Did you just stare at them for hours at a time, use flash cards, do the `E-very G-ood B-aby D-oes F-ine` type of tricks?

For me, this has to be the most annoying part of my piano studies. As soon as I think I have them memorized, a week later, I try to play a piece and realize I`ve forgot them all.

I`ve been constantly relearning them for over a month now (!!!), and it`s just wearing me down. Not to mention it`s incredibly annoying, and a waste of my time. Still, I refuse to give up, only losers give up. But Jesus, at the rate I`m learning things I`ll go insane first.

I need advice from the people who finally got them down in memory for good. How did you do it? How long did it take you? How much did you practice? Did you use special tricks, and if so, which one’s?

Please help!

morgmari, I just went to download.com and downloaded a totally free program called `MusicReading 7`. It teaches you all the basics of music theory when it comes to piano.

Learning the notes with this bad-boy was super easy. Unlike any other method I`ve tried, including flash cards, this has a type of game built in, which makes it fun to learn. And the best part is you learn quickly.

I really suggest you go at least try it out. I think you`ll find it very useful. And if you really have your heart set out on playing the piano, and practise with this, you`ll get it eventually. I did.

And hottie, yes I`m a guy, but spamming the boards isn`t the way get any, hun. But...if it`ll make you stop asking for it...

use flash cards, buy them at your local music store. just run through a whole set of them and then have a friend time drill you. try to improve every week.
