is there really any point to them? I relly dont understand how they help you. If I just practice them for a year straight will I become any good at piano?

Ya pracicing scales is important!! I kno there not any fun and i hate them I have to make myself practice them but if u know ur scales really good then when u go 2 sight read a piece it will b alot easier cause ur already familur(SP)w/ all the key signatures etc.
