Scotch, don`t be so harsh.
But playing the piano does take good time management and the will to actually want to play. I`m involved with drama and I just got finished with a show last week that took from 5-9 p.m. Plus, it was finals week and I had to study, but I still put aside an hour to practice.

It all comes down to if you really like it or not.

When I started the piano at like 8 or something, I NEVER practiced it at home... But now that I started again, I actually WANT to practice, and I love the sensation of being able to play another song. Yes the sense of completion. I practice about 2 hours a day, but not all at once, but about 15~30 min. sessions.

I dont plan on playing the piano as a career, I am invloved in my church`s rythem section (i play keyboard, like once a month), VBS keyboardist, Kids Worhship keyboard leader during summer. And I am working on being the actual pianist for church someday..... So, my priorities are a bit different. Its not that I dont want to practice, I really do, I love the piano. Its just hard to find time. And its not fair to judge me on that. Thanks

I`m going to do my Grade 8 RCM exam this coming December. I usually practise an hour a day (not all at once). I play the piano almost every spare moment I get, however most of the time consists of just sitting down and fooling around learning songs by ear or playing old songs that I don`t need to practise.

Re: "I dont plan on playing the piano as a career"

You don`t have to. Practice as little or as much as you like. Just don`t claim not to have time to practice, especially when you are obviously wasting time on the Internet. (I`m obviously wasting time on the Internet too, but the difference is that I`m not prevaricating about it--at least not at the moment.) The time you have to practice is the time you MAKE to practice. It`s your choice.

Scotch, you have got to be one of the most miserable people I have come into contact with. You really need to take it a notch down and start trying to be nicer, or please don`t post anything at all. I am sure we will all agree that we are on here to chat and have fun and to get away from the daily frustrations of living. We do not come on here to get insulted. If you suffer from depression, please try not to take it out on others.

I`ve reported Reenie`s posting, and I`m pointing that out in case someone wonder`s about the disparity after it`s removed by the moderator. In the mean time, reasonable persons will recognize that there are no "notches" involved. I`ve spoken to directly to the point, and, unlike, Reenie, have gratuitously insulted no one. Moreover, we`re "here" to waste time. (The site, on the other hand, is "here" to make money.)

Wow, it looks like the mods really listened to you Scotch. Lol! They, like the rest of us on the board probably don`t like you much either. Just stop while your ahead before you make yourself look even more pathetic.

You can pass Grade with distinction after practsing half an hour a day for two months, after having a serious dysfunctional breathing problem for half a year. I know, i did. (clarinet)
