I think, that all piano pieces are beautiful because so much hard work and effort has gone into them, Iv only been playing for around, 5 years and im terrible at that!!! Im only 154 i suppose but I do like Bachs prelude in C and Moonlight Sonata they maybe well known and `boring` but guess why they are well known!!! I also like a nother bacj piece but i cant remeber it, Im not as advanced as you guys lol,

My favorite piece is chopin`s "winter wind" (etude opus 25 no. 11) although i still cant play it (i`m 18).
The best piece i can play is the famous "clair de lune"...
I`m really impressed you played fantasie-impromptu at 11.
I can play it only now, and not perfectly...

and to rosie
what jazz piece even come close to chopin, debussy or beethoven? Give me a name

Yes the winterwind is a great piece... I think its quite overrated though in terms of difficulty, i found other etudes like the Op. 10 No. 8 in F harder to master in the end. I dont know why chopin`s Polonaise in f-sharp minor, Op. 44 is not as well known as it is. Probably my favourite chopin piece right now, it is very beautiful and fun to play too. Now, other than chopin, my other fav piece that i play would probably be Islamey..

Quote: Aljosa Jurinic ---
Mine is Fantasie-Impromptu. I played it 2 years a go (when I was 11).

What about you????
--------------------

Do I SMELL A BRAGGART? A LIAR?Yesiree, I believe I do. That last comment "when I was 11" was unneeded, and was probably added for the sole purpose of making a comment similar to such: "I AM A CHILD PRODIGY! EVERYONE, BE IN AWE OF MY SKILL!" Even if it`s true that you played such a difficult piece at 11 (less than likely) you needn`t make known your age. It takes away what credibility you might have had. And if it is a lie...well, that`s just pathetic.

I back that up!
Even if you tell me that you have a handspan of 2 octaves and can play Rach 3 at 10 yrs, it means nothing to me unless I see you play it.

If I don`t see you play it, it makes you a braggart. If you believe I WILL see you play it, play it. I`ll be watching.

Well for me, favourite means the pc that I enjoy playing the most. It needn`t be difficult...so it`s Chopin`s Berceuse. I really luv it...I can actually coax myself to `sleep` when i play that...caz it`s just so relaxing and so dreamy...And it`s my fav partly becaz it`s an all-occassion song. I can play it at hotels, at parties, at recitals... U can`t possibly play a Beethoven Sonata in a hotel lobby right? It just makes the pianist silly...Yap! That`s it! I luv it caz it`s lovely, and it rises to the `occasions`!

Love `The Banjo` by Gottschalk - wish I could play it all through though - suppose I`ll have to do a piano duet arrangement....to be honest, anything by Gottschalk is fab - bit of a cross between Chopin and Scott Joplin !

first to the girl who said "Fur Elise" is crap. UUMM you have to be pretty brilliant to have composed that while being deaf. Give Beethovan some credit because he was the master. Besides could she compose a beautiful piece like that... uh yah that`s what I thought.. My favorite piece in all the world: Claude Debussy`s "First Arabesque" I suggest all young pianists learn because it will stick with forever. And most importantly Aljosa, BE HUMBLE AND YOU`LL GO MUCH FARTHER! -BE BLESSED

hell, if i could play such a piece at 11 i would brag, as i`m sure most of you would as well. But i`m 14 and i`m very fond of ernesto lecuona. Probably one of my favorite pieces would be, Malaguena or La Comparsa by him. But I like Moonlight Sonata`s 3rd movement. That piece awed me when i first heard it. I am learning how to play Malaguena currently.
