This might be a stupid question for some people, but when I was practicing this Alicia Keys song, and another song, there is this note, which was E#, but I look at the keyboard......... AND NO E#! What does E# mean? There was an E# in one of the flute pieces I did, but there was no fingering for it, so I had to skip it. After, I thought that it wouldn`t be impossible for an E to become #, but any help would be appreciated!

I run in to that problem sometimes when there are accidentals in some of our concert band music. An E# is the same as an F natural. Composers sometimes use something like the E# when they want you to play an F natural when the key tells you F#. So when you get to the note you play an F natural (E#) instead of the F# that would be in the key signiture.

Yr explanation of the ... meant F sharp but play F natural thing sounded wierd to me, but nevertheless...
These notes are called enharmonia equivalent, like-
E sharp=F=Gdouble flat
or
C=Bsharp=D double flat,
or
A=G double sharp=B double flat.
Of caz, first u have to understand how sharps and flats work.
Sharp(raise a semitone/a step), so flat(lower a semitone/a step)
Double sharp( raise 2 semitones/a tone/2 steps )
Double flat ( lower 2 semitones/a tone/ 2 steps )
Thank you.

That is ok. Typos happen. But thank you because I now know what they are called. I remember my private teacher saying it but I could not think of it at the time. Thanx again.
