Hey I`ve been on quads for a while, but I still need a lot of improvement. Practicing on a pillow just doesn`t work for me. Anyone have any suggestions?

if you have drum pads, set them out on a table and put them in about the right position. Then, if you need to, use some masking tape or something to hold the pads still, and practice like that. If you don`t have drum pads, use anything that`s close to the shape (and size) of the drum heads.

thank you so much. A person also told me to practice on a phonebook, but that wasn`t such a sucess either. Thank you.

If you don`t have or want to use pads, you could use paper or styrofoam plates. My band dir. gave my whole class (all 7 of us) three to use when we were learning tri toms, and it really worked.

try the vic-firth heavy hitter tenor pad it will save you alot of trouble, but your wallet will be short about 120$. I have one and it works great because you can use it as a set of quads (middle school), quints(high school), or even the set of 6 that most colleges use.
