at the end of a song try spinning your right stick out alternating each finger until you reach the space between the middle and ring finger and try to spin it back in like that (keep it between your middle and ring finger)when the stick is directly in front of you spin it towards you one time then hold it out to your side and drop both sticks
i`m in eighth grade,i learned this from my freind that goes to a drum acadamy

I`m not trying to be negative or anything, but all that stuff on Drumline was extremely easy.
Devin Miles or whoever did his hands was not even that good. I could beat him on a bad day.
But enought about me. This is what you do. First of all, ... forget Drumline. That`s not real
drumming. Get your rudiments together. When you try to do the backsticking, it helps if you start
by trying without flipping at first. ex. RLLRLLRLLRLLRLL. Then, apply the backsticking. It`s
really impressive. If you can get it sounding like a roll, without the backsticking, try it with it.
It`s like that. I`m 17, and have been playing the snare for 4 years. I`m the best in my school, and may
be the best on the east coast. Hope I helped you out.

Look . . . i`ve been drumming for seven years already. I march at Los Banos High school, ive marched with Fever drum and bugle corps and soon for the bluedevils hopefully. but i have seen the movie drumline, and thats not what drumming is all about. its about the experience of creating a bond with a hundred other people that cant get anywhere else. Drum corps helped me to become a better performer. if you cant read music, learn from someone. if you cant march to what your playing, practice. the talent is backed by the emotion that you put into the drum. check out websites like www.DCI.org, www.fevercorps.org, www.bluedevils.org, www.drumlineparkinglot.net, and www.WGI.org, or www.drumcorpsplanet.com. all these websites have multimedia of some kind and sheet music too to learn from. The beats in the movies drumline arent very hard at all, the movie was all about the looks and nothing about real drumlines and drum corps.

You know, the most important thing in drumming rumndents(excuse my spelling)is bounce. You need to get the feel of the bounce. To do this, try the exercises given:
RRLRRLRRL and LLRLLRLLR. Also practice your 5-stroke rolls:RRLLRLLRRL. And you can do the double-stroke exercise:RLRLRRLLRRLL. Your bounce is very important in marching corp.

i learned this from a friend in project percussion. what you do is when your sticks are in take the stick closest to your body and with your thumb make it at a right angle with your other stick and then let it drop over your wrist and when it comes back under catch it between the bottom of your wrist and the stick furthest away from your body. As you become more confident the motions become much smoother.

If you want to get awesome drumming, get the CD Krupa and Rich.
This CD has unbelieveable drumming and the drummers(Buddy Rich and Gene Krupa) are going crazy on full sets!!!! Mostly on the snare drum. If you tried to get the sheet music for this CD, there would be none because even the most sophisticated sheet music copiers COULD NOT record this. There might be only 8 tracks but it`s really worth it. They are also playing on small sets too. Bass, Snare, Ride Cymbal, Crash Cymbal, Small Tom, Big Tom, Splash Cymbal, Hi-Hat, and Traditional Style.(See, I told you. Look at my other posts.)When you get the CD, let me know how the CD is aaaaaaaaaat:cr85@earthlink.net. Make sure to mention Krupa&Rich.

Try this one: RLLR RLLR RLLR RLLR - Now, here`s the trick: make it sound like you`re playing 16th`s hand to hand. Most that try this from the start sound like RllrRllr If you`re doing it correctly, for the first few times you`ll forget where one is in the measure.
Now for the fun stuff: LRRL LRRL LRRL LRRL, then RLRL RLRR LRLL RLLR LRLR LRLL RLRR LRRL
Enjoy!

I went to this music shop in Port Jervis,NY and some old drum and beugle corp had a bunch of 1970`s 15"x12" blue-olive badge vintage marching snares!!! The band went out of buissness and just gave them to the shop. You heard me right, GAVE THEM. The drums are even amber visalites!(acrilic shell) The owner doesn`t know what to do with them.
