In order to to anthying fast you have to relax your hands if you dont do that your dead .Find a focal point and dont look at your hands and start slow then when you get use to the speed it up. If you want to try somthing hard try cheesezits and cheesefives

if all you are interested is learning tricks i guarentee you wont be interested in drum corps style drumming that long. what you want do is LEARN ALL OF YOUR RUDIMENTS FIRST!!! technique, time and believe it or not, the proper way to hold the stick is very importnant before you learn tricks and backsticking. some guys i know cant play a rudiment right, just because they dont have the proper grip! you want to know how to play something with tricks or backsticking without having sound like your playing it with tricks and backsticking! so remember learn proper technique and all of the rudiments then you could learn stuff like backsticked hertas, stars, stickflips, backstick paradiddles and paradiddle diddles. or try just playing hybrid rudiments like cheese fives, fubars, or flammed funky book reports. that usually impresses people. ohh and chu chuddas.

I`ve been playing drums for about four years now and I still don`t understand when you are supposed to flip the stick in paradidles or any stick trick for that matter. I really would appreciate it if someone ould explain to me what the stick tricks actually are. Thanks!!

why does everybody keep asking for help on beats and stuff it`s something you learn on your own I`m only 15 and when I first saw drumline I was amazed but then I rentend it I was doing the sticking and stuff in about 2 or 3 weeks. Not all of it but most of it. to start of you should first learn most of the routines off drumline and that should help

ok it looks hard but it isnt. im 15 and this will be my 3rd year on a line. when i started out i just watched the snare drummer in our band play. the music from drumline is pretty hard to play. i figured it out by buying the soundtrack and playing only a fwe songs over and over. now i can play the last drum duel from the bet classic. trust me i know how it feels. my aim is streetskater3829

drumline the movie sucked and anyone who was impressed by the dirty diddles and the second rate visuals that they used there has to stop playing drums because its not your intrument.

ok not to brag but i know and can play everything off the movie drumline and even more.im almost half-way to being between extremly intermediateand almost extremly advanced so i know how to do most of everything.oh i also have one of the snares that was used and played on in the movie drumline.now the movies kinda old sence i can play it all.so start out slow and work your way up in backsticking.a really cool and super easy trick is stick-on-stick.its a roll with one hand well its not just that but go to vicfirth.com to see the video of jeff queen a ex-advanced snare who played in the play blast!its awsome-----you should see it

dude, for all new drummers or non experienced ones for get all that crap in the movie...its nuthin but circus tricks which wont help u out much at all. spend your time with rudiments and quality of rolls. those will garauntee a spot on the line...flipping a stcik around ur hand and hitting the butt end on the drum wont. circus tricks thats all it is.

hey u guys its not all that hard to get faster
ive only been playing sinde the 8th grade and im in tha 10th now and i made the d line at my school and there was alot of competition

also the vicfirth.com stuff does work and you should try it cuz jeff queen is the best.
in my freshman year i was the worse player and they stuck me on bass and tambourine in pit , that was fun and all but i wanted to be on the drumline
so i learned all of the cadences practiced them everyday, downloaded all kinds of dificult snare licks and solos from diff. sites and soon enuf i was ready
i even memorized my audition peace and <annoyed> all of the fish. fun

jus try hard and dont give up cuz if you do then you wont know what you can achieve.
and as far as tricks go if you cant get one to the speed you want practice it over and over again and even under water or
jus make up ur own i know i do. peace
