Wow, that much dedication? You know, it`s not easy to teach children to play music, much less read it... but I`d say keep him playing the drums, whether it`s on coffee cans or actual drums...just get him some sticks, a pad, and let him go at it. When he gets into grade school, see if they offer a music program, and they`ll teach him. I`m not quite sure he`s got the mentality to comprehend music notes and stuff..but he could be a prodigy. :-D Good luck. He may just very well be the future of Band.

Matt.

I`m a drum instructor in my music store. I`d have to say, yeah...keep him happy hitting pots and pans but don`t get him lessons until he`s about 7 or 8. Kids have big eyes when they`re young but when they find out how hard and time consuming drums are at an early age, they`ll get frustrated. I know this because I tried teaching kids at 5 or 6. Just be patient and it will happen!
