I`M DRUMMER GURL #1, and I`m calling all guys who think that they are better at snare than girls.I bet I can kill every guy that replies at snare,bass,drum set everything!!!!

this "guys are better than girls" thing has been around for so long and its old (i`ve been playing since the early `80s). I`ve had the pleasure of teaching a few female students. once you weed out the serious students from the not-so-serious ones, i`ve found that the girls are a whole lot easier to teach. they`re more open minded, willing to learn, less attitude problems and every bit as dedicated as any guy. the ladies i`ve taught almost always have better technique than the guys, especially at the begining and intermediate levels. truth is it doesn`t matter if you`re a girl or a guy, theres absolutley no difference in the physical make-up of the hands, wrists, fingers and the muscle groups involved in drumming. the only thing that matters is dedication and a willingness to learn.

Wow, talk about backlash. To clarify a few things:
1)"you were just talking about how girls learn better than boys, and then you start talking about how it doesn`t matter" - im only stating what i`ve observed from personal experience, and not every girl is a better student than every boy. i should`ve said girls CAN be better students not ARE.

The day I responded to this post I had just talked to an old friend of mine, who is also an instructor, and we had a conversation about this very topic (girls vs boys). He also agreed girls can be easier to teach than boys sometimes. (please note i said "can be" and "sometimes")
