Hey!

I joined the pit this year in our school`s marching band (oboes + marching = no) and have really enjoyed playing marimba. However, I`ve been playing with drumsticks off and on lately and have started thinking about trying to make it into the drumline next year. Only problem is, aside from playing mallets, I really don`t have any percussion experience.

Any advice for figuring out how to do that weird snare drum handgrip? Should I get lessons to get an idea of what I need to be able to do, or is it possible to teach yourself?
