I`m one of the best girl percussionists on our line. Most of our guys are good but the girls rule the line.

I`m a guy, I know I know I`m sorry girls only. But I had to say that girl drummers finally are getting in there and I like it. There definately aren`t enough girl drummers. Being a guy you kinda get tired of listening to the same drummers and it`s good to here something different. Keep it up!

Yeah - I`m part of an all-girl percussion ensemble...and we basically kicked all the guys *sses at the national comp.
Girls in percussion and girls in brass are finally finding their way to the top. It Rocks!

I marched top bass throughout high school, was drumline captain my senior year, and was prinicipal percussionist both my junior and senior years. I was a Front Ensemble member of Stryke Percussion (IO) in 2005 and am currently in the bassline for 2006. I also marched 4th bass for the Kiwanis Kavaliers Drum and Bugle Corps (Div I) in 2005, and was a bass drummer for Florida International University this past season. Curently I act as principal in the FIU Symphony Orchestra and will be heading off to the Berklee College of Music in the fall.

Okay, girlies...I must say a few things. It's awesome that we are breaking the boundaries of the male drummer stereotype, but perhaps it's doing us reverse harm to be giving ourselves so much credit for being good because we're a girl. Trust me- I'm all about women getting involved with music, but at the same time I think maybe it's important to see each other as good players, not as good female players. By doing that we are contributing to the stereotype. There can be butch girl drummers, there can be girly drummers...it doesn't make a difference. Just be who you are and let the music speak through you. www.evelynglennie.com click on the part about her biography
