Ha. I would say the initial titles fit our line pretty well.
I'm a tenor. What can I say? But I think it's funny how that almost always fits and how there are always those people: the really cocky snare kid, the one that never shows up on time, the stoner and the chubby one. In all my experience meeting other lines, I have found that there are at least 2 of those in every one. In mine, all.

You really shouldn't stero-type all perc.

I personally play mallets (Viberaphone) during Marching Band and snare during regular school.

I've even tried cymbals.

my school's drumline:

the cool but scared to death of playing solos mallet player, the lazy bass player, the WAY TOO ENERGETIC cymbals player who dances sometimes while she plays, the 3 i can roll longer and faster and better than you snare players, the i'm not even in percussion but i rock at the trap set guy, and the i sit in the back and throw paper airplanes out the window guys.

well, i've been in 2 lines, so i get to talk about both. the first one i was in i was pit (xylo, bells) and i kinda fit your mallet description. pretty much all of our snares were cocky.
now the line im currently in im actually battary(tenors/quads) and we're pretty laid back/funny kinds of people, the bass drums aint too good yet, but the snares aint too cocky here yet, i also played kit in normal band, and damn this comment is getting long.......

Mallets definetly are the coolest.

P.S. Stop spelling cymbal as "symbol," it isnt the same thing. (retarted drummers)

If you're good you're not cocky, you're confident. As a former quad player, I can say I'm confident, but always learning. Stereotyping doesn't help anything, and those perspectives are usually arrived at because of a person's lack of interest in drumline which manifests itself in quirky ways. Just have fun and become great at what you do while encouraging others to succeed.
