I am currently looking at two drum kits, but cant decide on which to get, one is a 6-piece Mapex M Birch, with a free 8"tom, the other is a Tama Superstar SK 7-piece double bass. if i had the money i would get both, but its gunna be hard to get the money for just one of them, so which would be the better buy?

Isn't Mapex a branch of Tama percussive instruments?

eh, whatev.

I'd go with the mapex if you like good tom sound; I've had a Mapex for about ten years and it still has the same heads. The only thing I had to do was put a bit of tape on them and tune them frequently when the seasons are changing and they sound just wonderful.

But, I'm also part jewish so I'd also say go with the cheaper one; you can fix it up later if need be...

Mapex all the way. Just add a double pedal and you'll be in heaven, trust me.
