How much power dose a section leader have?
I'm section leader now... and believe me, my section is horrible.
They just don't know whats going on, even when I tell them.
One of the reasons that I am now secion leader is that the old leader was so not resposible!
How do I get this group back togther?
HELP!
ANY ADVISE?
ANY HINTS?
ANYTHING?

Trust me I know where you're comming from. It is relaly sad when you're the only one who seems to care about anything; or know anything even though you try to pound it into their brains constantly.'
Here's the deal. Since you are the section leader and you don't ahve a percussion instructor, you call the shots. You need to get your drumline interested in the music by making it imperative. Talk to your band instructor and see if you can have a drumline show. Trust me, no matter how apathetic they are, they would rather work hard and get in line than make themselves look horrible on stage.
You may also need to have scheduled drumline meetings and practices to make hard work and discipline the norm for your drumline. Look. Your drumline needs to be able to be proud of itself, and the only way to do that is with hard work, and the only way to get them to work hard is to set high goals.
I think this might work with your drumline. It didn't work with mine because our school has been known for its amazing drumliners, so when they all left the youngers thought they were still cool, but they can't even play through our series.
Don't be afraid to seize control. The power and reign over your drumline is rightfully yours for the taking, so do so and lead them well.
