Hi,
I'm shopping for a cajon. Can someone enlighten me somewhat about how different types of wood for the body and the frontplate affect the sound and temperament of the instrument?
I've recently played around with two Meinls, one with (I think) a Siam Oak frontplate and one with (I think) a bubinga frontplate. I liked the former much better - I liked the much wider dynamic range and that it's easier on the hands - but I want one with a snare adjustment knob, and I don't see any of those with a Siam Oak frontplate. But I do see White Ash, Burl Oak, Ebony, and Anegre front plates.
Thanks.
