When I was looking for a drum kit I went to several stores to find what I should by, but 1 of the clerks `abused` me. I was wondering wether their were any other good makes other than Yamaha and Pearl

Try Pacific (by DW) they range from $350 to a couple thousand dollars but even the $350 kit that I own is better than my instructor`s Pearl.

WOW TAMA IS THE BEST. I have a tama rockstar custom, custom blonde with a lacquor finish and the only drumset that I have ever played that I liked better was a DW, but those are about 4000 jsut for the shells. Mine was about 3200 for a 6piece with thomas lang signature crashes and the top quality hardware that TAMA makes. Thesse drums are very diverse and worl great for any style of music depending on the heads and the style of music, but if you want to play heavy metal (many people do) I would go with a a pearl export series. Its a lower end set so you will get all those dirty undertones for heavy metal, but the shells are very durable compared to my birch TAMA shells. The reason is because my drums (TAMA) the series that I play have a lacquor finish where as the pearl exports and other lower end sets have almost like a hardsehll on the outside, the top plie of the 7 in each shell is a lower quality wood, but it is much much hartder making those drums harder to crack or chip.
