The drumset is going to be cheaper than $300. You can get a ludwig on www.musicansfriend.com but thats probally the cheapest you`ll get a kit for.

Cheap? eBay has crappy starter kits. They will sound pretty bad out of the box. But they are initially cheap.

yeah! you can go to www.massmusic.net and they have really cheap ones there. and they dont play too bad. you get everything you need to start with for $300.00 and the shipping is free. i know someone who got one from there that is how i know all of this

If there is a GuitarCenter anywhere around where you live, they have great deals. Just go in there and tell them your situation. They`ve always been awesome for me. When I first got my drums, I walked out of there for only $400 and they are pretty decent. Plus, they usually throw in free stuff.
