I was just wondering how many GOOD female drummers there are. it seem`s all chicks on the drumlines i`ve seen and been on only play bass. they either suck or drop out. I only know of one female snare drummer. so i was just curious as to how many responses i`ll get from serious girl drummers.

p.s. any difficult snare/tenor music would be cool

I tried out for snare this year,it was my first year ever playing the marching band snare, and everybody said "You better quit right now cause it`s too hard, and the last girl that tried out started crying and quit." but I stayed for band camp and learned some cadences. Yes it was hard, but I always wanted to learn how to do something. I was up against 4-5 year veterans. At one of the meetings they told me that none of them started out on snare their very first year except one of them. After 2 1/2 weeks on snare, I learned how to play the cymbals and I played cymbals for the rest of the season. People have a stereotype about girls on snare, but I`m ready to play snare next year. I needed the experience this season though. it helped alot.
I see a lot of girls playin snare. A lot more females play snare now than they did before. But I hardly see girls on tenor. I only know one girl that plays tenor really good.

I`m a freshman at my highschool and I play the snare. I played drums in middle school and my dad played bass drum when he was in highschool, so naturally I love to play. I was so nervous when I tried out because I was worried that I wouldn`t even make the line because everyone had more experience than I did. But later I heard that I would be playing snare drum along with our senor captain. The hardest part for me was learning the cadences without music and marching and playing at the same time. It`s all a piece of cake now.

well that`s cool, i guess that i just need to incurage the local female drummers to join marching band. we have only one girl on the line and she plays cymbals and doesn`t give a crap about anything.

Hey i just wanted to say that i think the most sexy thing a girl can ever do, is show another dude up on drums. Its AWESOME. Im also glad that girls are starting to play drums instead of backing out GIRL POWER. Also i wanted to say that if u ever c capital regiment drumline vids online watch their center tenor. (03,04,05)Hisa name is brandom maxwell and he has been offered positions at cavies,bd,scv, bluecoats, glassman, and crossman. but he declined because he wants to stay where he is. He is amzing and my personal best friend.

hey ive been playing flute for 5 years but after completeing my first season in the local high school marching band i found myself paying more and more attention to the drumline during camps, competions, and football games than i was to my own section. it seemed inevitable that a month after the season ended i began snare lessons and let me tell you, drumming is the most fun thing ive ever done! my parents were a little hesitant as first because they saw it as a "guy`s instrument" but now they know how much i love it and forget about their sterotype. hopefully this year will be my first year in the line and i can prove all of the guys wrong. just because im a girl, DOESNT MEAN I CANT DRUM!
