Learning the trumpet vs. Learning the Saxaphone

I heard that it is easier (pick it up faster) to
begin playing the saxaphone than it is to begin
playing the trumpet. Is there any truth to this?

Saxophone is alot easier to pick up than trumpet,I play both.

I agree with josie. Learn sax, it`s easier then playing sax will help you with trumpet.

Ok, trumpet may look decievingly easy with it`s three wussy valves, but it is actually really hard. i would suggest sax....though sax is a million times easier if you know brass.

You should learn the trumpet because it is a challenge. BUT if U want to learn to play an EASY instrument then go with sax.

well, if you want to be a jazz sax player, i`d recommend starting with a clarinet. once you learn that, switch to sax; friend of mine said it made it was easier for him

The sax is definately easier to play, it`s by far in my opinion the easiest to learn of all wind instruments. I mean, clarinet and sax are similar in play, but i suck on the clarinet and squeak all the time. The sax, i haven`t played in 4 years, and i picked it back up with out too much trouble. The sax can never be lost.
The trumpet, well it`s harder, buzzing is hard and hurts my lips. and my friend says that his range on trumpet is equal to his range of his whistling abilities.
but saxophones are the best
