I have been playing for a little more than a year and a half and have started toying around with the idea of purchasing a soprano saxophone. In your opinions, is that long enough to have played before even thinking of making a switch?
Thanks,
Jackson

Jackson,
Oh yeah, that is definitely long enough. The only thing about the soprano is that it is very difficult to start on, due to its difficult tuning, and a design which is different from the other three common saxophones. Since you started on the tenor, and you`ve been playing it for a while, I think you are definitely ready to give the soprano a try. The tenor or the alto are good saxophones to start on. Many professionals will agree with you on this. However, the saxophone is a family of instruments (a very big family), and learning several is good for your musicianship.
Cheers,
Thomas
