I`m buying a Soprano sax soon, I was wondering what kinds I should look at. I`m trying to keep it on the inexpensive side, but if need be, i could probably save up for a while longer.
Any input appresciated

Hok,
If you`re looking on the inexpensive side, I would advise you too look into Yamaha or Keilwerth sopranos. Yanisagawa makes some pretty decent horns, too. If you wanted to lay it all down, you could go for a Selmer. They are a bit more expensive than the other brands, but they make excellent horns, including the Selmer Serie II alto that I have.

I highly recommend you try LA Sax. I play a burnished brass model. It has two necks and a high G key. The sound is amazing. You WILL NOT find a better horn for the money. They are liquidating right now due to a move and preparing for new inventory so you can practically steal them. Call Jerry at Orpheus Music. Tell him Mike Spurlock sent you. You won`t be dissapointed.

Accidentally hit the submit button. If you are new to playing the sax, I need to tell you, the soprano is the most difficult horn to play in tune because the slightest fluctuation in your embouchure changes the pitch significantly. You want to get a good mouthpiece that has the largest chamber you can find. Also, you will want a pretty closed tip opening to start with. That will help with the intonation. I play on an Otto Link STM (metal) with an Olegature and Vandoren ZZ #3 reeds. That`s my setup for soprano.
So....tell me about yourself and where you are musically and I`ll try to give you a good objective opinion.
How long have you been playing the sax?
What is your primary instrument?
What kind of music do you play?
How much money are you willing to spend on equipment? (horn, mouthpiece, ligature, etc)
These are goo things to keep in mind when you are looking to buy equipment.
Thanks.
