I`m just using the ebay as a reference by the way. I guess I should`ve titled this one "sax brands"

woah thats a lot of questions. They only thing i`m intrigued about is that selmer. It has the 11000-12000 range, meaning it`s one of the best, though i`e never heard of an alto with a low A. the rest I can`t really help you with.

Orsi=Great, Naked lady=Awesome, Link= Awesome, Mark VI=Bad... very bad    12:12 on Thursday, June 30, 2005

Orsi makes sopraninos and contras, that are supposedly VERY high-calibre horns. I saw a contra of theirs last year, and it was a very well made horn (didn`t get a chance to play it, though) I`ve heard they play amazing. Mark VI`s... well, many people think they`re the best horns ever made; i think they`re nothing special. Sleepy, dull sounding horns. They made some altos with the low A key as an option, but from what I`ve heard, they don`t play too well (worth more, though). The naked lady saxes you`re talking about are the Conn 6M(alto), 10M(tenor), 11M(low A bari), 12M (low Bb bari). They`re AMAZING horns. Some of the best jazz horns EVER made. That Link is being sold for 600 bucks because:
1) It`s a FLA Link (awesome pieces, generally worth 400-500)
2) More valuable in 9* tip opening (rare)
3) It has some funky factory plating job (very rare)

Thanks alot, I was wondering if anyone would actually help. So, The naked lady saxes aren`t going for much on ebay, so would it be worth a shot buying one?

Try these two first. When looking for 6M`s, check out the VIII`s or Transitionals first. The VIII`s play the best of them, the trannies 2nd, IMO. The earlier models tend to play better than the later ones. Toward the end of the run, I don`t know what it is, but they don`t have the same 6M feel to them.

I have an Orsi bari (w/o low A) but I cant tell you much about it. I know it comes from Italy and I`d agree with the `sleepy` sound, but I enjoy playing it very much. My Grandpa bought it over 40 years ago and other than having it repadded, it still plays and sounds great.
