Andrew,

These are the transposition rules for Eb instruments. To get the note name, you simply find the 6th note of any concert major scale. The 6th note of the concert D major scale is B. This will also be the corresponding key signature.

Bb is 1 whole step up.

That is another way to remember it, and it works just as well. This is just how I was taught it.

Oh, sorry Thomas, I wasn`t trying to critcize you. Truth be told, that was alst night at about midnight right after I got back in from a long trip, so thats just how it came out. whatever works works, right?
