Man, there was like 24 (idk to many to count) different kinds of sax. Try asking about one besides one of the 4 real popular ones.

The soprano sax is a real instrument, and I don`t know where you might have gotten the idea that it wasn`t. And yes, Wildband is right, there are more than 4 saxophones - a LOT more. In fact, I`ll give you a list of all the ones I am aware of, from highest to lowest:
- Bb soprillo
- Eb sopranino
- C soprano
- Bb soprano
- F mezzo-alto
- Eb alto
- C tenor (also referred to as the "C-melody" saxophone, which was discontinued in the early 1940`s)
- Bb tenor
- Eb baritone
- C bass (the original saxophone, intended to be a powerful woodwind voice in orchestras)
- Bb bass
- Eb contrabass
- Bb sub-contrabass
Try to be a little more informed when you`re bashing the saxophone.

also the soprano sax is awesome in Irish music, you think it wouldn`t fit right but it sounds totally amazing. Can i just say don`t knock it until you`ve tried it as im sure youve insulted a lot of perfectly good saxomophone players with that stupid and pathetic remark! I`d love to know what instruments you play to comment that Sop Sax isnt a decent instrument!?!

I think he was confused about the soprano sax because Kenny G plays it. Maybe he thought that since Kenny G is not a real musician he therefore couldn`t be playing a real instrument.

i`ll tell you why a sop sax is good in Irish pubs.
If you lay on your back and hold the horn up it allows people to pour beer down the bell.
Just make sure you have all the keys closed.
