Alright, here`s the deal. I`m on the lookout for a new top of the line sax, and thanks to my parents money is not an issue. I have played many horns, and my two favorites are the Paris reference54 and the yamaha 875 ex regular laquer
I like the reference 54 more, but there are no laquer plating options for the sax, and i would prefer a sax that stands out like silver or black, hence the yamaha. So, I was wondering how the laquers/plating would change the tone and if they would change them for the better, ie. more like the reference 54. Thanks

I always enjoyed the feel of the yamaha sax more than selmer`s. obviously the selmer, being it the better horn, is a good way to go. but a good horn is only as good as it is behind as a competant player. in any case, without any money constrictions i would`ve bought both, lol. but a ref. 54 is certainly an awesome remake of the Mark VI.
I own a Yamaha Custom myself, not the 875 X, but the old custom just 875. Plays just as good if not better than the EX version.
