If you`re want to play a solo piece, and aren`t sure what you`re looking for, the best place to start is a music store. Look for books of saxophone solo pieces - there will be tons. I recently performed "Vocalise", a piece written by Sergei Rachmaninov for voice and piano, and arranged for saxophone and piano. Rachmaninov is known for his ability to write hauntingly beautiful melodies, and Vocalise is no exception. Definitely a good choice for a solo piece!

Yes, if you`re auditioning for jazz band, Take Five by the Dave Brubeck Quartet is a great choice for an audition piece!
