It is right but don`t bite hard the best way to test to see if your emboucure is too tight or too loose is to take your mouthpiece off and play into it, blow hard not soft, it may be hard to produce a sound at first but work at it. For Alto it should be a concert A tone and for tenor it will be a concert G tone. Remember Concert tones not sax tones. Use a pitch pipe, tuner, piano, etc... to see if you are playing in tune, if not adjust your emboucure (loosen or tighten accordingly). This is something you should check especially when your starting out (I still do it from time to time) very frequently. Do it before you start to play and pick another time during your practice to see if your emboucure changes. After awhile you will be able to hit the A or G tone immediately, without any adjustments.
Give it a try. Your sax tone will be better for it.
Cheers

No Problem, I also want to add that the longer you play a day, the lazier your emboucure will become and after long practice days we have a tendency to start tightening it by biting harder. Take a break let your lip rest. If it becomes a persistant problem you may want to invest in a Doctors nightguard, the problem with these is they are very expensive, however they will not effect your sound and will form to your teeth. Or I have heard to use a piece of paper, don`t know I never tried it.
Keep Playing
