alrighty, well then there are 4 saxes you should be looking for.
First, for a brighter, more classical sound (course mouthpieces and stuff can change it) there is the series II and III. Pretty good horns, right up with evrything else. YOu can get different options and stuff that will change the tone slightly. Unless your real short of money, i`d get a III over the II because the III is better.
Then you have tho old mark vi and the new reference 54. I am especially familiar with these horns, having played a mark, and played on a reference on a few occasions. I can say I loved my partiacular mark, but like they say, they`re not very consistant. the reference is pretty cose to the mark but has more moderns things, like the lwoer notes blow easier and it has a high F#, htough you can hit that with altissimo. The mark is a vintage horn, and pretty expensive. course the ref is to. i wouldn`t pay over 4K for the horns, you can find them for abour 3.5K BUt, as for tone, they have a darker tone.
I could go on forever about that stuff, why dont` you go check out a site, www.saxforte.com click on saxophones, then click on materials and finishes. that shoudl help. POst any thoughts or email me if you have any other questions about ne thing.
