I`m currently learning the Saxaphone, so I can audition for my high school`s jazz band next year (they don`t allow clarinets ). I was wondering if anyone could help me out with various jazz mouthpeices I could try? If it helps at all, I have the YAS-23 Yamaha Saxaphone. Thanks for the help.

Are you playing Tenor or Alto? For tenor I like using a Otto-Link 7 metal and for Alto a #7 Meyer. Don`t worry you will have to double on clarinet and Flute if you play sax in a jazz band.

Oh yeah, sorry. I`m learning the alto. I can already double on the flute, and I`m hoping I can triple on the alto sax as well .

I would go with a meyer mouthpiece a 5m 6m or 7m is good. I use a 5m and I love it with a rovna ligature. i just bought some rovna classic reeds and I hate them I would go with a java thats thicker or a v16 thats thickest of vanduran reeds. I think I will get a box of v16`s . I bought the mouthpiece off saxplus.com its a good site.
