hi! Ive been playing sax for 7 years. Let me help you some.
A glissando, or gliss, is usually used in marches. It is a siries of grace notes(notes with no beat value) that is chromatically related to a note in the phrase.
To do a gliss you take a note that has a gliss sign on it (Curve upward) and play a half step above it, then a whole step above it, then a half step above it, and then the original note.
